The Museum of Winchester History works to build and conserve artifacts from north Central Idaho, focusing on Winchester, a town too tough to die. The Museum was founded in 1966 when the Craig Mountain Lumber Company, who had built the third Winchester town site, shut down the mill. The people of this “30 caliber town” wanted to remember their pioneer experiences, tell their own story and build on their heritage into the future. The exhibits, located in the Museum and on the City Park grounds at the Winchester Community Center, include the Tracy Censky native Plant garden, the story of the mills, the Camas Prairie Railroad, mining, ranching and more.
