Placerville City Hall
Placerville, Boise County

  • Grant: 1992

Location: Granite Street, Placerville, Idaho 83666
Placerville is approximately 10 miles northwest of Idaho City.

The building now used as the Placerville City Hall was built after earlier buildings burned in 1899 and 1900 fires. James McDevitt built the present structure of local brick and stone with an ornate brick façade. The attic was insulated with six to eight inches of dirt. A butcher shop occupied half of the building with the post office in the other half. The building has housed a boarding house, saloon and café. It is now used as a city hall, as an election precinct and for social gathering.
