The building was extensively remodeled to highlight its schoolhouse charm while meeting the needs of a present day government office. The project received recognition from the Idaho Historic Preservation Council and the architects, ZGA, received an Honor Award and materials Used Design Award from the Idaho Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The town of Idaho City was placed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The town is a unique showcase of Idaho’s early mining days.
