Charles and Dora Charbonneau built the Hotel Charbonneau in 1912, and further added onto the building in 1920. The hotel was the only commercial hotel when Priest River was a booming logging town. It was sited close to the railroad depot. Traveling salesmen and professional people, many of them from Spokane, came to town on the train and stayed at the Hotel. Silent screen actress and filmmaker Nell Shipman stayed at the hotel when she was passing through town from her movie studio on Priest Lake in the early 1920s. The Hotel is now in private hands.
