Rural Idaho County

  • Grant: 1995

Location: Boulder Creek Trail, Clearwater National Forest

Horse Camp Cabin is a single 15’ x 17’ intermediate guard station still used by the U.S. Forest Service as an administrative site nine miles from the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. It is a well-preserved example of cabins built in western forests in the early 1900s. Wilderness rangers, packers and crews are usually available at the site to talk with visitors. The Boulder Creek Trail is one of the most heavily used access routes into the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness.
