Harriman State Park was given the mandate to preserve the land and artifacts that were left behind when turned over the State.  The staff at the Park is working to maintain the furniture left behind in the cottages.  The Jones family was the last to buy one of the five shares on the ranch.  They were able to purchase a share after Solomon Guggenheim died in 1949.  Charles Jones began as an accountant for the Rio Grande Oil Company and, upon his retirement, was Chairman of the Board for Richfield Oil Company.  The sofas left by the Jones family were reupholstered.
