Location: Covered Wagons, Three Island Crossing State Park, Glenns Ferry, Idaho 83623

Three Island Crossing State Park is the site of one of the most dangerous river crossings that Oregon Trail emigrants had to encounter. Nearly 53,000 men, women and children traveled to the location where the crossing was more difficult because wagons had to be floated across the water. Those who didn’t cross at this point had to travel the South Alternate Trail also located in the area. The site was also a Shoshone camp some 900-1200 years ago. The Trust helped to repair two wagons used to interpret the hardships experienced in the crossing.
