East Mountain Lookout
Rural Valley County, Valley County
Location: Rural Valley County, Idaho
East Mountain Lookout was about 90 minutes north of Boise, off Idaho 55 on Clear Creek Road, between Smith’s Ferry and Cascade. Prior to burning it was one of the nation’s finest examples of a hand hewn log lookout. Built in the 1930s it was used until the early 1990s. The lookout was destroyed by a lightning strike caused wildfire in the summer of 2002.
