Named for the woman who began the collection, the Jane Daniels Ashton Archives are located in the Fremont County Library building on 950 Main Street in Ashton. Ms. Daniels collection was initially housed in City Hall but has since moved to the library for its additional space and accessibility.

The Archive houses city council minutes, photos, books, magazines, audio cassettes, VCR tapes, documents, maps and small memorabilia that reflect the history of Ashton and surrounding farming areas. Of particular interest, the collection includes articles, photos, and additional information on Ashton’s Dog Derby, the oldest in the nation, which has been a beloved event since 1917 (and still is going strong to this day!). The archive also has extensive information regarding railroad projects, which seems fitting as Ashton is named for renowned railway engineer William Ashton.
