Alpha Grange

Alpha Grange
Cascade, Valley County

  • Grant: 1995

Location: 10816 State Highway 55, south of Cascade, Idaho 83611

As Highway 55 rises out of the tree-lined Payette River canyon, the exquisite Long Valley emerges. A few miles further stands a small old school building with a merry-go-round still yearning to go round in the wind. That’s the home of Alpha Grange. The building was constructed in 1916 as one-room school by a man named Newman who built several schools in the area. The Trust helped replace the foundation of this simple reminder of things past along the highway. The Grange serves as a polling place, as a meeting place for Long Valley Gardeners, and as a hall for wedding dinners and socials.
