Craigmont is south of Lewiston.
The City Hall building originally served as the Post Office for the newly formed town of Craigmont. Craigmont was created to consolidate the communities of Ilo and Vollmer. The structure later became the City Hall, then a town jail, then a public library. When the library moved, the historical society moved in and began to use the space to house local archival records.
